2019 Dodge Challenger Review

2019 Dodge Challenger Reivew

If you're in the market for a new vehicle, countless options are available to you. With so many options to choose from, where should you start? First, start with the basics: do you want an everyday, generically styled ride? Or do you want to make impressions?

Unleash the beast within with this modern embodiment of the muscle car dream: the 2019 Dodge Challenger. With its ferocious engine, brash handling, and high performance, this isn't an ordinary car. It's built for anyone who wants to dominate the road. In this comprehensive review, we'll discuss whether or not this is just the ticket for you.

Fuel Economy

Dodge Challenger ReviewUnapologetic with unmitigated swagger, the most efficient Challengers are the SXT and GT models. Rated at an EPA-estimated 19 MPG city, 30 MPG hwy, and 23 MPG combined on regular unleaded, they are as thrifty or as thirsty as you want them to be. The R/Ts 5.7-liter V8 runs better when on premium gasoline paired with the manual transmission at 15/23/18 MPG, but improves to 16/25/19 MPG with the automatic, according to EPA estimates.

Trims in the 6.4-liter V8 get 14/23/17 MPG city/highway/combined when paired to the manual and 15/25/18 MPG with the automatic. With its 485 horsepower, that's great fuel economy. The 717-horsepower supercharged 6.2-liter V8 in the Challenger SRT Hellcat consumes fuel at 13/21/16 MPG with the manual and 13/22/16 MPG when you opt for the automatic. Premium fuel is recommended for both models. All MPG ratings are based on EPA estimates.

Comfort and Quality

2019 Dodge Challenger ReviewTake the streets by storm in a large coupe, besting the competition for interior space. The Challenger offers seating for five with more head- and legroom and more space altogether than the competition. Houndstooth cloth upholstery with a six-way power-adjustable seat come standard. Available features include leather upholstery (going all the way up to Nappa or Laguna leather options), heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and sports seats with added bolstering.

This beast really shines when it comes to giving options to drivers with little ones in tow-three full sets of LATCH connectors for installing car seats are available. That's basically unheard of in a five-seat muscle car.

Dodge Challenger Technology

The Dodge Challenger was designed around the most important element: the driver. Finely crafted interior materials and toys mean this car isn't just spirited on the interstate, but it's smart in all the right places. Standard features include dual-zone automatic climate control, a rearview camera, Uconnect® infotainment system, a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, Bluetooth®, integrated voice command, and two USB ports.

Available features include a power sunroof, a 6- or 9-speaker Alpine® audio system, satellite radio, an 18-speaker Harman Kardon® audio system, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Monitoring, Forward Collision Warning, rear parking sensors, an 8.4-inch touchscreen with navigation, and an upgraded Uconnect® system.

Bottom line: The 2019 Challenger is dripping with muscle, paying homage to its impressive heritage.
