2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Review

Over the years, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has been a go-to SUV for several reasons. It's versatile, well-built, and designed with both the average driver and adventurer in mind. This is what allows the Grand Cherokee to be an all-around boastful vehicle-with a lineup of powerful engines and too many available features to list at once.

That's why we at Family Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram wanted to put together an informative 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee review for the drivers of Center City, Philadelphia, and Delaware County, PA. To get an inside look at this year's Grand Cherokee near South Jersey, we invite you to scroll down and continue reading!

Engine Options Abound

2020 Jeep Grand CherokeeWhen it comes to performance, the 2020 Grand Cherokee has four different available engines. Standardly equipped is a 3.6L Pentastar® V6 engine that's mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. It can generate up to 295 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. You'll also notice that this setup features Electronic Stop/Start Technology to improve the Grand Cherokee's efficiency.

Onto the next available engine, which is a 5.7L HEMI® V8 that is capable of producing up to 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. At cruising speeds where eight cylinders aren't needed, this engine will shut off four cylinders to maximize gas mileage.

Now, it's time to get into the grit of this year's engines. This 6.4L SRT® V8 will deliver up to 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. It's also paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission with five drive modes: Auto, Sport, Track, Snow, and Tow.

The last available engine essentially defines "overpowered" in the best way possible. Generating up to 707 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque, the monstrous Supercharged 6.2L V8 can go from a dead-stop to 60 MPH in 3.5 seconds. Let's just say that you shouldn't have any issues-regardless of the terrain.

Hit the Off-Road with Confidence

2020 Jeep Grand CherokeeThere are a lot of features to enhance the already assertive Jeep Grand Cherokee for off-roading and less-than-optimal road conditions. We'll start with the standard air intakes, which are elevated and sealed. Crossing streams up to 20 inches deep has never been easier.

Now it's time to move onto the available Selec-Terrain® Traction Management System. Switch the centrally located knob to Snow, Sand, or Mud for whatever your ride requires at that moment. It'll maintain traction while you enjoy the drive.

If you're planning on heading off-road for some serious trails, you'll want to take a seat in the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk. It features stronger and larger skid plates as well as heavy duty tow hooks and all-terrain tires. However, the best part is probably Jeep's Quadra-Drive® II. This 4x4 system can handle most excursions with ease thanks to its ability to transfer up to 100% of torque to a single rear wheel.

Built for Hauling

Depending on the trim level and engine you take home, the 2020 Grand Cherokee's towing capacity can vary quite a bit.

When the 3.6L Pentastar® V6 engine is properly equipped, the towing capacity is 6,200 pounds.

All three remaining engine options have a maximum towing capacity of 7,200 pounds when properly equipped. So, load up the midsize family camper trailer and cruise up to your favorite vacation spot for the weekend.
