Pacifica vs Odyssey: Passenger & Cargo Space
When comparing the Pacifica vs Odyssey, they both offer seating for up to eight—more than enough space for your kids and their friends.
In the Pacifica, you get 41.1 inches of front legroom, 39 inches of second-row legroom, and 36.5 inches of third-row legroom. The Odyssey gives you 40.9 inches of front and second-row legroom, and 38.1 inches of third-row legroom. However, you get more overall passenger space in the Pacifica—165 cubic feet vs. 163.6 cubic feet, to be exact.
When you’re driving around your entire family, you’ll undoubtedly also be toting around all their belongings. Luckily, there’s plenty of space to do so in the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica.
It gives you 32.3 cubic feet of cargo room behind the rear seats, and 87.5 cubic feet when those seats are folded down. Fold the second and third row seats down, and you’ll get a full 140.5 cubic feet to fit all your needed items.
The Honda Odyssey does give you up to 158 cubic feet of cargo space behind the front row. Unfortunately, you have to completely remove the second-row seats for that maximum cargo capacity, unlike in the Pacifica.
Advanced Technologies
Each minivan offers plenty of high-tech features to help keep everyone on board relaxed and safe. For example, they both come standard with Bluetooth® technology to stream audio or make hands-free phone calls. Plus, they both offer heated front and rear outboard seats, to help stay cozy on colder days.
The 2018 Pacifica also comes standard with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™. Simply plug your phone into the car’s USB, and your music playlists, podcasts, and more will be displayed on the 7-inch display screen.
To get this smartphone integration feature in the Odyssey, you’ll need to upgrade to a higher trim level.
Each minivan has lots of driver-assisting technologies, as well, to help prevent an accident from occurring. For example, there’s the standard Blind Spot Monitoring system in the Pacifica. If a vehicle is in your blind spot, you’ll be warned via a yellow triangle on the appropriate outside mirror.
The Odyssey has a similar feature, but you have to get a higher trim level to obtain it.
Performance Specs: 2018 Chrysler Pacifica vs 2018 Honda Odyssey
When going from point a to point b, you want to spend more time on the road and less time making stops to refuel. Both vans let you do this for the same distance, as they each achieve up to an EPA-estimated 19 city/28 highway MPG.1
However, the Chrysler Pacifica also has a Hybrid model—the first of its kind in the United States. It’s equipped with a 3.6L Pentastar® V6 eHybrid engine and 16kWh lithium-ion battery. Together, it gives you a 33-mile driving range and an EPA-estimated 84 MPGe.2
Since the Odyssey doesn’t have a Hybrid model, you won’t be getting that kind of fuel economy in any version of this minivan.
You also won’t be getting the kind of power you need when driving on the highway. The standard engine in the Odyssey is a 3.5L V6 that produces 280 horsepower. On the other hand, the Pacifica comes standard with a 3.8L V6 that delivers 287 horsepower.
2018 Pacifica vs 2018 Odyssey: Verdict
The Honda Odyssey is an impressive minivan. But the Chrysler Pacifica has a bigger interior, more standard features, and better power and fuel economy.
